Arcadia Collection Updates

The Arcadia Collection was initially introduced in 2020 in a simple presentation of natural shade fabrics that were available exclusively for members of America’s Window Covering Buying Network.
 
With the immense success of The Arcadia Natural Shade Collection, we are pleased to announce that we have created a complete line of Arcadia shading products including an expanded Natural Shade Collection, Roller Shades, and Soft Treatments.
 
The expanded Natural Shade Collection is now available to order. Roller Shades and Soft Treatments will be introduced later this year.

We are excited to announce a specification improvement for motorized shades ordered from the Arcadia Natural Shade Collection. Starting October 1, Standard Lithium Ion, DC, AC, and Pro Wand motors will use a system that fits on a 1½" head rail. Power Lift Motors will continue with a 2½" head rail.  

With this system change, the motors themselves remain exactly the same, maintaining their programming and operating instructions. 

What’s new is the system that attaches the motor to the headrail. This updated design is more compact, allowing our motors to now fit on a 1½ inch head rail.

The 1.5" headrail is perfect for installations where space is limited, like inside shallow window frames. Because the system is more compact, it also helps contribute to a quieter motorized experience. 

Standard and Extended depth returns will be available for outside mount shades on October 1, 2025. There are no changes to the option or specification for inside mount shades.

Standard depth returns are made to the depth of the head rail. Extended depth returns are made slightly deeper than the head rail and help close the gap between the wall and the back of the shades. 

To allow extended returns to fit properly to the shade valance and return back to the wall, we will change the way outside mount shades are made:

• All Outside Mount Standard Shades will be made with a valance that is 1/2” wider than the ordered width. The headrail and shade fabric will be made to the ordered size.
• Outside Mount Waterfall Shades will be made with the shade fabric to ordered width. The headrail and back valance will be made 1/2” narrower. 

These adjustments allow the return to make a clean corner in the front of the shade and clear the fabric at the back of the shade. 

This specification update applies to all woven wood and fabric roman shade collections including Arcadia Natural Shades, Portfolio Collection Natural Shades, Walden Premier, Walden Select, and Portfolio Collection Fabric Roman Shades. 

Many of the finely woven fabrics or fabrics with open weaves in our woven wood collections, including the Arcadia Natural Shade Collection, Portfolio Collection Natural Shades, Walden Premier, and Walden Select requires edge binding to protect the edge of the shade and keep the shade fabric from fraying over time. We understand that Edge Binding may not be a suitable style choice for all design aesthetics, so we've added Edge Seal as a new solution to protect the edges of shades. 

Edge Seal is used on select fabrics when ordered without edge binding. See below for the list of fabrics using this option when not using edge binding. 

Edge Seal is a non-adhesive tape applied to the back left and right edges of select shade fabrics. It is also applied to the valance of standard shades.

Edge Seal is transparent once applied, but it may be slightly visible from the back and front of the shade, especially if the shade is unlined. It will be more visible on darker fabrics than on lighter fabrics.

Please note, some fabrics in these collections have continued with the edge binding requirement, as all weaves and materials are not suitable to pair with Edge Seal. This update will be applied to the Arcadia Natural Shade Collection, Portfolio Collection Natural Shades, and  Walden Select Collection. ​

Edge Seal is only used on the fabrics listed below if they are not ordered with edge binding. These fabrics no longer require edge binding to maintain the warranty for frayed edges.

​Please note, some fabrics in the collection have continued with the edge binding requirement, as all weaves and materials are not suitable to pair with Edge Seal. ​

​We are improving the specification for lined valances. Lined valances are intended to block the outline of the components from showing through to the front of the valance when light is coming through. 

Previously, unlined shades defaulted to a color coordinated light-filtering liner for all lined valances, and light-filtering lined shades used matching light-filtering liners on the valance. We have found that when valances use light-filtering liners, the outline of the components is often still visible through the front of the valance. 

As of September 10th, 2025, our new standard specification is to use color matched room-darkening liners on all valances to fully block the view of the components. Unlined shades will have room-darkening lined valances matched to the shade fabric color. Light-filtering shades will have room-darkening lined valances matched to the light-filtering liner color. 

You may also change your lined valance color when placing orders. 

Room-Darkening lined shades will continue to use the matching room-darkening liner color for the lined valance.
